Q:
How can I make an appointment?

To make an appointment at our Decatur practice, please call 217-619-0053 or schedule an appointment online now. Q:
What can I expect as a first-time denture wearer?

Step 1: You will have an initial consultation and an X-Ray. If you’re experiencing tooth pain or discomfort, your dentist will take an X-ray and discuss a recommended treatment plan with you.
Step 2: If needed, damaged or unhealthy teeth can be extracted. Before having a new denture placed, some patients need tooth extractions beforehand.
Step 3: In some cases, a temporary denture may be placed. Immediate dentures aid the healing process, enhance appearance, and help control bleeding after extractions.
Step 4: The healing process begins. The healing process can take some time, with it usually taking patients up to six months to be fully healed. During this time, gum tissue can change and may shrink, which can affect the fit of the denture.
Step 5: An adjustment or reline may be needed. If your gums shrink, your immediate denture may loosen and a reline or new denture may be needed.
Step 6: Some practices may offer a New Denture Wearer Package that includes an immediate denture and necessary adjustments. Be sure to contact the Avondale practice to inquire about any packages available.
For additional information, our team of dentists located in Avondale will gladly assist you with any questions about the process. More information about our dental and implant options are available on the Compare Our Dentures page.

Do you provide tooth extractions and other services?

Yes, the practice performs extractions on a same-day basis, in most cases. Your health conditions, any medications you may be currently taking, and the complexity of the extraction may affect this service. The dentist will gladly discuss circumstances that may affect the availability of extractions on a same-day basis. Please call (217) 875-1160 to learn more about our other general dentistry services.
